Has anyone recently given birth at the Rosie in Cambridge? If so, please could you share your experiences. How many pools does the delivery unit have and are you allowed mood lighting as you apparently are at the Birthing Centre? How easily can you get transferred from the Birthing Centre to the delivery unit, if required?

Hi! I didn't go to the Rosie, but I'm just down the road in St Neots. I lived in Brentwood when I had my first and planned to give birth at St Peter's midwife led unit in Maldon, I was slow to progress so they popped me in an ambulance and blue lighted me to the the main hospital, 10 to 15 minutes away, I fully dilated in the ambulance and had a vaginal birth. Second time we were here in St Neots and I wanted a home birth, it was amazing staying at home, having two midwives all to myself, but my baby was back to back and stuck so the midwives decided to transfer me to the hospital. Again a 10-15 minute drive, I don't think they used the blue lights this time as it was the middle of the night. The midwife I'd been seeing throughout my pregnancy was on duty the night I went into labour, she came out to my house, went in the ambulance with me and stayed with me in theatre. My second was born by forceps delivery.
Ring the Rosie and ask your questions, some hospitals do tours, some don't but they should be able to answer your questions. Do what's right for you and your baby. Take care.
