Is that ok if my girl friend is pass her due date
Hi i was just wondering : Is that ok if... - Pregnancy and Par...
Hi i was just wondering
Yes . . . Due date is a rough guess but baby can arrive before or afterwards with no problems. She’ll be allowed to go about 2 weeks past before being advised to be induced but her midwife will have gone through all the options with her.
Ok if she hade to be induce do i have to be in the room with her
Well you don't have to be with her but I would have thought she would want you there. And I personally wouldn't be to impressed if my partner refused to be with me
I think i will go in there with her but i think i would be to embarrassing for me
Why on earth would it be embarrassing for you. Your girlfriend is the one giving birth not you it's for her that dignity gets thrown out the window and that has to have medical staff dealing with an intimate area.
I know but i think it is can of embarrassing if they have to do that
You shouldn't feel embarrassed. My partner said it was the most incredible experience of his life. He was so part of the birth. I needed him (he was the one holding the gas and air and giving me water /a flannel on my head) during the labour.
And Kate 91 is right -it's not your dignity that goes out the window! 😂
Induction isn’t that different to natural labour it just speeds things up - were you not planning to be with your partner during the birth at all? Does she have someone else that can support her through it? I think you need to talk to her and find out what she wants for the birth and ensure she has enough support, it’s not the sort of thing anyone would want to do alone so as long as she has her mother/sister/a friend or someone else willing to support her then I guess you don’t have to be there?!
Yes. I was nearly two weeks past my due date
Did you go to birthing classes or to any of her midwife appointments? They would have gone through all this with you both and are really beneficial particularly for partners!. If not then definitely go to her next midwife appointment with her and you can go through everything with your partner. There are loads of options for birth so make sure you know what your partner wants and doesn’t want so you’re all on the same page and you can advocate for her if she needs it. You need to be asking her all these questions and make a rough plan. Don’t be embarrassed, but try and talk through everything with your partner so you’re prepared and able to support her
They won't allow her to go more than 14 days beyond the due date. Many people I know have gone up to 42 weeks.
I had my baby early because my Waters broke but I think that going over 40 weeks is nothing to worry about.
It's between you and your partner whether you are there for induction, labour and delivery. It is not the right thing for everyone for him to be present. In some cultures no men are allowed to be present during intimate examinations or delivery. You have to do what is right and comfortable for you two.
