Panicking!

So I had a miscarriage back in February and I was 9wks. I've just done a pregnancy test as my period is 3 days late and it's come back positive. I did the date checker and I'm only 4weeks gone. The only problem is I'm getting the same pains I got when I was misscarrying. I'm getting brown spotting again like last time. This will be my second pregnancy now within a year. I'm freaking out a little and I'll try and make a doctors appointment ASAP. People said spotting and a bit of pain can be normal but I just feel the same as when I went through my miscarriage.

I also miscarried last year, had no symptoms no pain no bleeding nothing, it was picked up at my 12 weeks scan that it was measuring 7 weeks with no heartbeat. I conceived again 3 months later, had implantation bleeding, then period pains all through first trimester and brown spotting (sometimes with weird stringy bits in) again for about 7 weeks but am now 32 weeks with a healthy pregnancy - so it could be nothing. It could be a sign of problems so definitely get checked out, but just saying on the flip side it could also be nothing! I was told the spotting could be due my cervix still being scarred from the surgical management and releasing old blood as it closed. Fingers crossed everything’s ok for you this time round x

Sorry for your loss mc is horrible I’ve had 2 in a row one in Nov at 12+3w and July at 13w I had bleeding just before I mc and had nothing with my 2nd until after the 12w scan.

I’d ring the EPU they can advise you not sure if they scan if your 4 weeks as there’s not much to see prob tell you to just wait and see. Fingers crossed for you that it’s nothing and you have a healthy pregnancy. Good luck to u xxx

I was bleeding around 6 weeks with my son and it was all good. I was told bleeding in the first trimester is quite common...

With my second I had no bleeding.

With my third pregnancy I started bleeding around 5 weeks (I didn’t know I was pregnant). However, it was accompanied with strong, one-sided pain that went all the way down my right leg. It turned out to be an ectopic pregnancy...

I’m now 9 weeks pregnant and was bleeding briefly at 7 weeks. I went to the EPU and the scan showed heart beat and all. She said they see so many women for bleeding because everyone assumes that bleeding means miscarriage (it didn’t help that my GP the night before told me “it’s probably a miscarriage...”, matter of fact). And she said unless is like a proper period-like bleed, it is usually nothing to worry about at all and very, very common.

What is say is, at 4 weeks they can’t do anything as they can’t see anything. I had a scan at 4+6 due to the ectopic and they saw a sac, which is good, but far too early to see a baby, let alone a heart beat. So although I know how hard it is, I think in your situation right now you can only wait. However, if you start having pain, especially one-sided or shoulder tip, see the EPU to rule out an ectopic!

Oh and I had a very light bleed at 4 weeks (I thought my period was starting...). So much happens in those early days, it’s no wonder there can be some bleeding.

I do understand your worries though, after my ectopic I’m stressing out about the slightest thing that’s out of the ordinary...

Thanks for the replies. I had the pain and the brown stringy spotting with my miscarriage so it just felt like it was all happening again. The pain has eased off but right at the bottom of my tummy I feel like I've done loads of sit ups and the brown spotting isn't as bad. I think I just panicked, as this is my second pregnancy and I just really want this one to go well unlike my first. I don't know what pains and feelings I'm meant to feel as with my first I was in constant pain and didn't bleed heavy until 2days before I went in for surgery to have the baby removed. X
