Hi community, my son is 7 months old we breastfeed and are doing Baby Led Weaning (BLW) which is going great lunch and dinner, but I'm struggling with what to offer him for breakfast.
No dairy suggestions please, I don't want to introduce dairy until he is 1. But all other BLW suggestions welcome! Thanks x
Thanks for the ideas, I will have to make a batch at a time for the week ahead.
We are working with an IBCLC who has recommended no dairy before 12 months. She has been spot on with everything so far so trusting her with this too.
We did BLW and here were a few faves. Porridge with peanut butter, wheetabix or mini shredded wheat with almond or coconut milk. Granola bars, scrambled egg, French toast (fried in coconut oil). I buy frozen mixed fruit bags that people use to make smoothies and wizz them up and freeze them in ice cube trays. You can pop a few in porridge or spread on French toast for example to add more fruit to their diet. Also good on toast as a healthy alternative to jam.

Thanks! We have tried wheatabix with pureed fruit, and have given him peanut butter on plain crackers. I'm fortunate I that he eats whatever we give him so far. As he is 7months we are trying to avoid any unnecessary sugar so jam alternatives are fantastic!

Yeah we’re the same, my daughter is 16 months and still has never had any refined sugar. The nanny’s hate it as they’re desperate to spoil her! 😂 it’s easier when they’re over 1 and can have honey. Follow young_gums on instagram. She has some great recipes including a refined sugar free chia seed jam.

Grandparents can be the worst for spoiling them! My mum keeps asking if she can give him stuff but thankfully respects my wishes. I will check out IG, as a SAHM I've got plenty of time to experiment in the kitchen! Thanks for the suggestions xx
