Congratulations first of all 😃! Do you know how far along you are ?

You need to get some vitamins such as pregacare, folic acid , also cut down on all caffeine intake and no sea food !!! You can check food and dos and donts on Emma’s diary or the internet will let you know too.

Just take care of yourself xx

Have a read of NHS choices it's good and comprehensive and covers all the must knows

In my area we have an early pregnancy meeting where they discuss what you should/shouldn’t be eating and vitamins to take etc no alcohol and help with smoking etc then you leave your details and a midwife rings you to arrange a date for booking in. Or you can just skip and ring the midwife direct get the number from your gp.

Speak to the receptionist at your GP surgery as they may refer you directly to the midwife(s) without seeing your GP. When I knew I was pregnant after a positive test, I just made an appointment with my GP without saying to the receptionist why I was making the appointment. My GP gave me a quick once over (mini medical) before giving me the phone number for the midwife - I had to contact her myself and book an appointment for around week 8. They then look after you until a few weeks after you’ve given birth who will then pass you on to the Health Visitor until your baby is 5 years old (or going to school).

Definitely take folic acid and look at the vitamins/supplements on Vitabiotics (Pregnacare) - they give you 3 for 2.

Also, give up alcohol, caffeine, seafood & soft cheese but do keep yourself fit and active. I walked my dog everyday (even the day I went into labour - took a week off and then got back into walking a week after the birth) and I’m so glad I did as I’m sure it helped me stay fit & well and it also helped with my stamina throughout my labour. Definitely don’t put your feet up and rest - keep mobile for as long as possible.

Fingers crossed that helps.

Good luck and best wishes with your pregnancy.
