Hi has anyone had their bloods taken to see if they’re ovulating? I use the ovulation sticks and never get a positive, I mentioned this to my dr today and she’s going to test 3 weeks after the start of my next period, I’ve a 25 day cycle I thought this maybe a little late as calculations say I ovulate on day 11, or does it not matter??

Hey,
Yeah I had bloods and they seem to be done on day 21 of a cycle. However, I had a 28-31 day cycle.
I’m sure day 21 will still be fine for bloods though, did your Dr take note of your cycle length? Xxx
I did mentioned it I don’t know if this is a day for any cycle length.
If it was mentioned then I think it should be ok 🙂
I guess they’ll repeat the test if they feel maybe it was missed due to a shorter cycle and then they might adjust the day of bloods if they need to.
Good luck xxx
Yeah that’s true, I was a little surprised the doctor said they don’t investigate fertility until after trying for 2 years of not conceiving I have 2 kids and miscarried in Nov so she thinks there’s no problem. But I thought because I’m 38, 6 months of trying for over 35 was the normal time to see a doctor.
2 years does seem a long time and according to the NHS website if your over 36 and have been trying a year you should see your GP.

She is only doing the bloods because I mentioned I don’t get a positive on the LH sticks otherwise she said come back in sept.
How often do you test? I have a 28 day cycle and would start testing around day 10/11. So I would probably start on day 8/9 with a 25 day cycle. Testing twice a day (late morning/lunchtime and evening) sometimes helps as your LH surge window can be quite short sometimes. I stocked up on the Poundland tests so it wasn’t breaking the bank each month. Some months I’d get positives and other times I’d get faint results (actually got faint results the month we conceived!). It’s normally after a year of trying that they will do tests so it’s really good that your doctor is happy to do them for you. I haven’t had the blood tests so I can’t comment on the normal day for those - if your doctor knows how long your cycle is then I would guess they know best.
I’m sorry for your loss. Sometimes it takes a while for your cycle to get back in sync after a miscarriage. It took mine 4 months to get back to normal after my miscarriage and then we conceived our rainbow the month after that (it took us 6 mths of trying to conceive our angel baby). Good luck xxx
Hi shem008 I’ve tried from day 7 but I know when I ovulate I get period like pains to start and then really strong pains lasts a few hours it’s usually day 11 but has been day 10 the last 2 months. I was asking about the pain she said I could have a cyst on my ovary but unlikely as there’s no history and I’ve had scans lately etc
I’ve done tests days before the pains and I’ve ever only had a faint line maybe twice then test again the day after nothing.
Hi, I had fertility treatment and had to have blood tests every month as more often than not the LH tests did not work. I have a long cycles (about 38 days and think I would ovulate around day 21 but it did vary). Testing for LH levels this late is unusual. I think trusting your instincts is usually a wise move. Doctors who do not specialise in fertility treatment can get it wrong. In fact 1 doctor we met didn't even know what an LH test was ( worrying). On a positive note, I'm older than you and did conceive. In fact, I'm 29 wk's pregnant with twins.
The nhs path does take about 2 yrs . I know this as my partner attempted this path but gave up due to time issues. I have many colleagues who likewise had experienced this.
Good luck!
Hi so what fertility treatment did you receive if you don’t mind me asking.
