Hi ladies,

Was just wondering if I could start using a exercise ball? I'm 12 weeks now and was just wondering if it was safe or not to start using one.

Thank you x

Exercise is good for your pregnancy especially with a ball rather than a gym bench as it’s less pressure for your pelvis. If your used to excersice I’ve been told to Continue what I usually do (within moderation no stupid heaving lifting )

I've read that exercise is good during pregnancy. I've been doing yoga and some Pilates as I found it helps with joint pain. I was cycling earlier in my pregnancy and am now starting swimming as I am later in my pregnancy (31weeks). Swimming helps with joint pain as well. As for exercise balls, I've not tried them myself but have heard of women using them later on in pregnancy. It's supposed to help with contractions. The NHS Choices website has a useful section on exercise during pregnancy x
