Fed up

I posted a while ago and now getting to the point where I just want to stay in bed. It is the constantly feeling sick and at least once a day being sick . Work are not helping and keep ringing me suggesting I resign and talking about not receiving maternity pay. I just cannot cope with the stress and how it may be affecting the baby. He has definitely stopped moving as much. My husband is amazing and is trying to take the pressure of by dealing with work for me, but I don't want to keep pestering him every time I feel rubbish but also just want him with me. . He already has enough on his plate.

What can I do? Has anyone else been ill and off work.? I just want it to end now.

I'm so sorry to hear that. Also that your employers are being so terrible. They have no right. Sorry I don't have any words of wisdom but I hope it gets better for you soon.

Please, please talk to someone about this. It is quite normal to feel anxious or overwhelmed and there is nothing wrong with you, but it sounds like you might be putting yourself under a lot of pressure and taking to someone could help. It can all be so overwhelming at first but I promise it gets easier and you will learn more and more about parenting and grow in confidence :-) It also sounds like what your employer is dong is wrong on so many levels, perhaps you could call Citizens Advice about this. But first please chat to your midwife or doctor about how you are feeling. You'll be okay :-) x

It sounds like you need to get some help to deal with your employer. They definitely need to respect the fact that you are ill and can't work. I seem to remember getting a leaflet from my midwife regarding your rights during pregnancy etc. Maybe you can get some contacts that way that will help you with your employer pestering you. It really gets on my nerves when they do what they are doing to you.

Good luck.

Your employer is definitely not acting correctly, they shouldn't treat you any differently just for being pregnant. If you are ill then they should respect this and certainly not be suggesting that you resign or threatening maternity pay if you qualify for it. How long have you been with them? I would suggest sending an email or letter to your manager saying that you feel uncomfortable about the suggestions that have been made and confirming that you will keep them fully informed and want to work when you feel well enough to. That way you get everything on record just in case anything else happens in the future and you need proof they were treating you unfairly xxx

Thank you. My husband has sent an email. He is a manager and so deals with employment law all the time. I have worked for the council for 5 years and then tuped across 2 years ago. I am a member of a union and they have backed this up. I have agreed to see the occupational health adviser dr person which is tomorrow. Just don't think I can cope now with going back to work as I feel they have made it awkward. Nightmares are keeping me awake. Thank you for all you replies. Never thought being signed of sick would make me feel worse.
