Home water birth

Hi ladies, so we're hoping for a home water birth this time but one thing I'm unsure of is how to keep the water at the right temp? Will it be a case of adding more warm water every now and again or is there a super super.pool that has some sort of temp control. Any in put would be great xx

I started off second time at home in a birthing pool and it keeps husband busy taking some water out and putting more hot in! He probably felt more useful having that job. I can't really remember much about it, I was in my own little birthing world.

First birth, I was in the birthing pool at the midwife led unit and they had to keep letting water down the plug then refilling with more hot water, unfortunately I don't think they've invented a super super pool that holds the heat in yet!

Hope you have an amazing home water birth. X

They exist but it is illegal to hire them out in the UK because of the legionella disease risk they pose. You could buy one, but unless you have a spare fortune or want to turn your lounge into a permanent water park, it looks unfeasible! It's a shame, but it does keep the men busy

This may sound really but I wonder if you can get a aquarium heater suitable for the pool size? Not sure if it would work just s crazy idea!

What temp would the water need to be? If your house is big enough why not buy a blow up hot tub, you can set the temperature then to whatever you want, they are quite cheap at about £250 and obviously you can use it after, no idea about water births though so sorry if this is a ridiculous idea xx

You'd need to get a sterile pool lining to fit, as a hot tub won't be prepared to medical use standards. It is a possibility though.

Thank you all ladies been very helpful 😙 xx
