Like some other members recently, I am getting fed up at how this has become some kind of 'pregnancy diagnosis' site for young women who have had unprotected sex.
I found the information and support invaluable all through my pregnancy and in the early days after birth but I have now had enough of the incessant 'Am I pregnant??' titles.
Good luck to everyone with their little ones, and thanks for all the support and advice over the past year.x
I'm the same, such a shame as it was such an amazing support system for me throughout my pregnancy but I've had enough of the same questions everyday thy cannot be answered. May be back for baby number 2 but until then I wish everyone the best with their little ones and bumps x
I'm getting quite frustrated with it, too! This is why I never reply to those questions, and I would encourage other members to do the same. Sorry if it sounds a bit mean, but I'm a person, not a clear blue pregnancy test...how the hell am I meant to know if someone is pregnant or not?!
As a fairly new poster, I have seen a rash of these posts more recently. Personally, in my hormone enhanced state, I've been seeing frightened young women who clearly aren't sexually educated enough asking for help (cos that's what I want to see rather than trolls having fun). Help that we can't give. It's frustrating having to type "pee on a stick" all the time. "Dr Google" isn't helping either, with its "pregnancy symptoms" searches. I don't know whether to laugh or cry when I see a barrage of symptoms described that are clearly from the latter stages.
Thinking as a young, frightened woman I can see how easy it is to think "am i pregnant?" and google it. You don't have to deal with the father, or family (which would make a stressful time worse), it's quick. You don't tend to think rationally at a time like that, and you want answers now, not in the morning when you can buy a test.
I had some great advice on here recently, with my 20 week scan nerves and I feel that as I've taken advice I should give some advice back. But, yesterday I felt like I should just set up a macro on my pc to type "do a test".
Honestly, I'm torn.

How did your scan go :-)?

It went very well, thanks. Everything is ticking along nicely, and we're having a girl. They couldn't get a good picture of the heart, so I've got another scan in 3 weeks. I'm feeling quite relaxed about that though, I figured they'd have me in sooner if they were worried. The sonographer said she wasn't concerned about it, and I'm fairly certain I saw 4 chambers. When I heard the hb at 16 weeks it was strong, and regular so I can't see anything to worry about

I'm also having a girl (although the sonographer had to give us the "We can never be 100% sure" speech! They would have you in sooner if they were worried and I'm glad to hear you're not anxious about it (you get to see her again!) x
It shows how poorly educated on "sex education" some people are. The "methods" some use to "prevent" getting pregnant are very surprising. I would not personally attack young people as I feel that there is quite a mix baggage of people that seem unsure. I have just turned 25, i am married and have 2 beautiful (planned) daughters and was fully aware of 'how to/not to' get pregnant.
A lot of people seem to just lack in common sense and or knowledge.
My words of wisdom would simply be, if you are sexually active and had unprotected sex. Your period is atleast a week late or more then take a test and go by the results.
If your period has simply been irregular that month then it is quite normal for "symptoms" to appear as your body is not having that same release.
This site is not that of facebook where you pop a question/thought on with whatever jumps to mind (full reason i got rid of the bloody thing!).
My post may seem blunt but it's honest. I do not mean to be mean or offend anyone but that is the way it is.
Wishing everyone a happy and healthy pregnancy and all the best to their families too :). Shame to lose our helpful members xx
I agree about being frightened and typing things into Google. I did a bit of Googling of symptoms before I took a test - mainly because I thought My OH and I couldn't have children, and that I had really bad PMT!
I think the problems with online lists of symptoms is that a person can read them and fool themselves into thinking they've got that symptom, adding to the confusion. For example, if I was to say to you all now that every pregnant women has a slight metallic taste in her mouth, you'd start to question if you did have that taste, but hadn't previously noticed it! Hope that makes sense!
It looks like Queenie78 has gone now, which is a shame.
Thank god everyone feels the same way I've been going crazy with all of the 'I had unprotected sex two days ago and now I have all these symptoms etc' rubbish! I've been biting my tongue for so long and I'm happy you have come out and said what we all have been thinking. I'm gutted because I used to love this site too and I'm hoping the quality of the posts will improve as this is such a valuable resource for expectant mums and new mums it really is an amazing site it helped me so much during my pregnancy
Well I'm glad someone else feels the same as me, it's become a bit of a joke now. Sex education these days must be non-existent!! I have learned so much from all you lovely ladies. Thanks for all the advice but I'm signing off now too. Good luck to you and yours. Xx
I too feel the same, and I've only been here for a few months and not due to til June :-(. Of the notification e-mail this morning of the 5 or so new posts, 3 were am I pregnant!!! So frustrating. Can admins do anything about this so it can be used as a proper NCT support network??

I'm due in June, too
I've emailed the admins to complain. If you, or others wanted to do the same, that'd support my original message to them!
I feel exactly the same! I've found myself immediately deleting most of the daily update emails I get from this site of late when during the most part of my pregnancy I would be reading each question and blog avidly. It's such a shame as have received some very helpful advice on here. Hopefully it will revert back to what it was. Good luck to you all though x
I feel the same way and I'm due in July. I found this website really helpful at first, especially after having a miscarriage before conceiving this one. I do feel however that its time to go, the daily e-mails of am I pregnant are just clogging up my inbox. All the best to everyone and their little ones.
I feel the same also, I am very grateful to all of the mums who gave me sound advice or shared their own worries over the past 10 months but am sick of "am I preggers?" being the constant theme now. If anyone is heading to another forum let me know as I still enjoy the link to other new mums or mums to be xx
It has become a bit mad, I think it's the time of year, spring is in the air. I occasionally watch another forum on an app I have and ladies are posting photos of discharge! What can be done though? I remember what it was like tying myself in knots but I must admit I just took tests and believed them and went to docs when i was worried. I do feel for these lassies but it is getting a bit much now
I recently joined the site as I am 5 months pregnant with my first baby and I have been quite surprised with how many people post 'Am I pregnant' posts, I actually laughed at one that said they had had sex 2 weeks ago and started listing symptoms like morning sickness and heartburn!
It's understandable that some girls are worried but it is a case of being patient and testing again the following week if you get a negative result (I think I went through about 7 tests before I got my positive result!). It's amazing how many people don't seem to understand that a pregnancy test is the only way to find out and no one on a website can tell you if you are pregnant or not!!!
