Im 38 weeks pregnant. On Wed i had clear weird jelly down below and alot of it which I've never had before. I called MW she said sounds like mucous plug coming away and if i get a bloody show or contractions to call her back.

Yesterday (Thursday) i couldn't sleep was up at 3am, had a bottom sore back all day and was so agitated & angry.

Today i still have pain in my back and its now like in my bum & hips. During the night i had braxton hicks where i had to get up & pee my bump would go so hard and i had to shuffle my legs to get to toilet. Im getting some pressure in vagina also. I just had a wee emotional burst of tears too which I've not had in ages. All days i feel nauseous.

Is there more of this to come or is this signs of labor ? Im getting so fed up! Anyone got any advice or knowledge they can share? This is my first child xx

Hi muffin1983,

As many women/ expectant mothers can anticipate the start of labour in different ways I must say it does sound as if you may just be within the early stages yes!

The best thing I could reccomend at this point is to try & keep a mental track/ timing of any contractions or braxton hicks you may be feeling as my start labour ( with both my kids) started very similar to what you are describing.

Many midwifes do now advise women to wait until you feel as if your contractions are at least 5 minutes apart before coming into hospital but you know your body best & if you feel as if the pain is worsening give your chosen MAU a ring to let them know your coming in.

Good luck & I'll be looking out for your birth story- :)

I hope so too, it's so exciting yet nerve wracking at this time isn't it as the next few hours are just so unpredictable.

Hope all goes well, do you know what the gender of baby is?

U sound like ur on the very early stages of labour and it's a great sign that everything is moving in the right direction. If u start getting regular contractions about 4 mins apart then u need to call delivery suite. If they are anything like mine then they will tell u to take a Bath and have some paracetamol and probably won't take u seriously unless u can't talk through ur contractions. But all women are different and have different pain thresholds. If u have to lie to be seen...do it. Good luck and I wish u a safe easy delivery xxx
