It does sound unusual. My 1st "initial" guess it probably just the muscles in that part of the body adjusting back to normal a few days after birth. But Im no medical professional or any so if you feel as the pain is a Lil' too unusal contact your G.P

You could also try giving NHS 24 HRS a ring as they can also give you some sound, practical medical advise without having to go to your G.P.

xx

Sounds like piles to me. I had them after I delivered (understandable after what you've pushed out!) mine felt like a shooting pain in my bottom and made having a number 2 quite painful. There were a few spots of blood when I wiped as well - does any of that sound familiar?

Mine stayed inside and went away after a week or two so I didn't treat them but either go and see your doctor or mention to your midwife if you're still under their care. You should always report strange pain downstairs so close to delivery if you're unsure what's causing it.

Drinking lots of water should help you go easier too, particularly if you're breastfeeding which can dehydrate you really easily.

Congratulations on the birth of your little one :-) x

Have you been at all since you have birth? Your bowels will usually open 3-4 days post birth, did you have stitches? You may have held it in if you were nervous of going and now find yourself constipated. Go and see your doctor or midwife hun, you'll have enough to be worrying about with a 1 week old without suffering with this too. They'll definitely be able to help - especially if it is piles or constipation xx

oh poor you :( i have the exact same problem.. my wee man is 16 days old :( it was worse with my first, i had stitches and was that afraid to go i held it in for 6 days and was in complete agony i could barely walk into the doctors.. deff get an app with doctor! they gave me loads of medication and creams to help.. my little man was 9lb 3oz and i had him with gas and air and i felt every thing so i knew my problem would return but i was determined not to be in as much pain as last time.. i took a warm bath and drank lots of orange juice, i still have piles and are very painful :( i agree with dons88.. its the last thing you need to deal with when you have a newborn.. take care xx
