Have been diagnosed with a prolactinoma, whist trying for a baby. I know I should be patient, it should happen when the tablets get everything back in order, but finding it very difficult. Just want periods to start again, any advice very welcome. Any ideas on when/if they'll start again? and how long it could all take?

Prolactinoma, and trying to conceive.
The best person to talk to is your endocrinologist. Everyone is different, and the details of your specific case, full hormone profile etc will be what dictates? Assuming micro-prolactinoma rather than macro? Have they started bromocriptine or carbergoline?
Any pregnancy should be planned with endocrine and maternal and foetal medicine input pre-conception. Assuming the risks etc have already been discussed with you?
I have been on bromocriptine for about four months now, and, although my levels of prolactin were not very high (only about twice the upper limit of the normal range), they are decreasing quite slowly. The last couple of periods have been a great disappointment for me, as my levels are now down to within the normal limits. My GP says he is not worried yet and that he would not be surprised if it took me a few more months to conceive... I have read cases of other people that got pregnant only on their second cycle of bromocriptine... So who knows, probably difficult to say. Only advice I can give is not to obsess too much.
Thank you very much both for answering. I am on Carbergoline and although my levels were very high (37,000) they have dropped to nearly normal in the 16 weeks since I started treatment. My endocrinologist has said we can carry on trying, I think I'm just impatient to see outward signs that the tablets are working. Fingers crossed for you Lady123 and me. Thank you again it's nice to talk to someone else who knows' what it's like.
