Cervix length check

Hi everyone,

Sounds like a daft question but how do they check this? Is it with an internal ultrasound? If so is it safe at nearly 23 weeks pregnant? I have had an early internal scan but as usual I'm worrying about this time.

Thanks xxx

You can check it yourself or the midwife, and yep internal exam, not wise to go poking around as it can trigger the cervix to move/ dilate.

Why are you worrying about your cervix length?

Because they are checking it at the hospital as I'm having twins, not sure if this is something they routinely do with singletons or not x

Hi, I had a cervical scan last week due to gynae operations I have had in the past possibly leading to thinning of the cervix. It is an internal scan (I had it at 24 weeks) but to be honest I found it pretty much painless. Mine was all good news and hopefully you will have the same. Honestly though, it's nothing to worry about (i'd take clean undies maybe though because they go pretty heavy on the lubricant). You feel like you've had an accident after! Good luck xx
