Since liquid Loperamide has been stopped I am struggling to get some control of this diarrhoea. The instants work fast to stop bowel movements so been good for emergencies. A full capsule of Loperamide means I don't have any bowel movements for days, quite nice, but I know it's not ideal as I just get back to square one. Doctor prescribed me with Norimode in tablet form so I can halve them.
The leaflet says: start with 2 tablets daily and adjust this dose until 1-2 solid stools a day are obtained. This is usually achieved with a maintenance dose of 1-6 tablets daily.
How can they work like that? That seems a awful lot to me.
So scared cos I don't know exactly what this means. How/when do I adjust the dose? Is it over a few weeks? Months? Do I keep on 'taking the tablets'? Put up with no bowel movements? Has anyone actually used this method and how was it?
My granddaughter says to go with it if I want regular bowel action. She thinks that if I take the tablets, I might become constipated, but it will eventually put itself right, become 'normal' bowel wise. I'm not that sure.
Anyone else tried this? Does it work?
Any advice very welcome.

Like you I have had huge probs since the liquid was withdrawn. I tend to cut the Norimode in half and take and then take the other half if needed!
On an average week I take 2.5-3.5 mgs over the week and that works for me although a lots depends on what I’m doing ( no one want accidents if out) or what I eat. I have also had great success with Superdrug own brand instants which again I cut in half and use as above. These def seem to work quicker so tend to use more often and not expensive to buy.
I certainly just adjust in half tab 1 mg doses as I don’t want the problems that come with constipation.
Hope this helps, give it a try? It’s all trial and error!
I'm trying out the tablets happy retired. Quite hopeful.Just a week but I've not been constipated or had awful Diarrhoea, just felt like it could become 'normal' ish. Early days and still not worked out daily dosage yet. But hopeful. Thanks for your messages.
