What does an insufficiency fracture feel like?

Has anyone experienced low back pain as a result (sacrum)?

Thank you x

I had that and had sore hips; especially when I tried to sleep on my side. It only lasted about 2 years after treatment and then went away. I'd rather have that than my bowel troubles! :oIt didn't really bother my back though.

Good luck getting it sorted!

Thank you. Yes the bowel stuff is horrible and seems to just get worse over time. Ah :(

Hi , its terribly painful. Pelvis leg and lower back.I have 3 already ,as Rose says , lying on your side is torture, walking .. you feel as they are knifing you up with a screwdriver. Morphine and other pain meds help plus heat. Mine started a year after treatment finished, woke up one morning and I couldn't put weight on my left leg. Tests and fracture now I have 2 more fractures. Right now it feels as if my pelvic bones are grating on each other. So its meds., rest and heat for 2 or 3 days. Hope that helps you. Add that to bowel problems and you hit the jackpot 😍

I had 3 shortly after treatment finished, showed up on scan next scan 3 months later they had gone. But I am still in constant pain (18 months on) left hip is the worst can't lie on it at all, also get painful lower back my last clinic appointment consultant said I should just be taking paracetamol and ibuprofen now and reduced my co codomol, I now have to ration myself as I don't have enough pain meds, so I just live with the pain now . Really hard to get in and out of car getting upstairs walking any length of time, it's getting me down it really is. Aswell as the bowel issues and bladder issues . It's like what Renee says feels like bone on bone . X

Sorry to hear that :( I really think doctors underestimate the damage done by radiation in terms of pain and ongoing issues. I am about 18 months out too and my hips play up as well. Its like my whole pelvis is out of whack and all the muscles are super tight, no matter how many stretches I do!

Sorry that you are experiencing this. I have had stress fractures of my femur head and the same on both sides of the back of my pelvis. My leg was the one that was painful. I'm a runner also but I couldn't run with that. I still run 4 yrs later but my right hip and sciatica are killing me. I know that I have IT band problems but no matter how much I stretch it hurts. Lying in bed kills me. I think that it's time to see a orthopedic Dr!

Hi

I had a CT scan last November which picked up compression fractures in my L4 and L5 vertebrae. I then had a DEXA scan which showed I have osteoporosis in my hip and spine. I have been prescribed with Alendronic acid and a calcium/ vitamin D supplement.

My lower back gets very stiff which luckily I can ease with exercise and stretching. I have discomfort and sometimes pain in my right hip if I don't rest regularly; I'm not absolutely sure if this is because of bone problems or because I'm a bit lop sided due to lymphoedema in my right leg/foot - I might try and see a physio about it.

Best wishes

Has anyone tried a Tens machine for back/hip pain. I have had a hip replacement but before I did using a Tens machine really helped. Also physio and osteopathy can help. And if you're lucky enough to know a good aromatherapist that helps too. All costs of course but even if it's just once a month or so I believe it's worth giving your body that treat. After all our bodies have gone through I think it's worth it. GP should help with pain management too. Hugs and hope that things start to ease for you. X

Thank you :) Yes, I have a tens and it actually works well for nerve pain! If I place it higher then the pain it seems to reduce it or knock it out

Yes both my sacrums are fractured due to IF plus pubis rami. They feel very painful. I hope you don’t have them 🤞
