Specifically, what's in your name?

Does your name mean something special?

Does it have a particular significance to you, your family or your community?

I'll go first- I'm named after Christmas! 🎄🎁 Yup, that little holiday that is right around the corner. My original due date was Christmas day, but I was fashionably late as always...

And yes- I usually got the ONE present a year from friends and relatives with a card that said "Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday." One year, my parents did something special and took the whole family to Maui to celebrate both Christmas and my 18th birthday (hence the picture of my dad and I above). It was the best 2 for 1 present I have ever received! So this time of year, every year, I think about the significance of my name.

Don’t necessarily remember the meaning behind my name so I’ll share something just as important. My mother named my oldest sister and myself; 6 children all together. 😊

My sister is my mothers favorite child... so if she is my mother’s favorite child and my mother named her and she only named one other child ; there has to be something special about me being named by her as well... 🤷‍♂️

What a beautiful photograph!My father died when i was young so i have no photos.

My name means Lily in Hebrew, and i think coincidentally, my grandmothers name was Lilian. My partners name means gift of God which i think shows huge parental love.Sopsx

Thanks so much! I’ve been searching and my name maybe derived from harvest and abundance! Traditional past names were taken from mums family- my aunt Teresa!!

I’m lovin my name now but as a kid I would only use Teresa 🧐

It’s a very interesting activity and I’m gonna persue my family’s name meanings! The pic is so lovely and I also have lots of lovely pics of my great dad and also my family 😊

Sunflowers are just gorgeous, aren't they? My aunt loves sunflowers as well, so her whole kitchen is decked out with sunflower curtains and sunflower towels. Whenever I walk in there, I can't help but smile 🌻😊

Don't think there is anything super special about my name. My mum was 41 when I was born (unplanned surprise package). She had a rough labour and was groggy when the doctor asked for my name, she thought he said what was her name. I was supposed to be Jennifer but finished up as Alice. Actually not bad since it is also both grandma's name.

Very cool! My parents did not know if I was going to be a boy or a girl (they wanted to be surprised), so they chose Nicholas as a potential name as well. If I had been a boy, we would both have the same name 😊

I always knew mine as being Hebrew for 'lily. In Persian it seems it means 'lily flower', and in Egyptian Coptic 'lotus flower' . In Hebrew Shoshana means 'lily' so I guess I'm going with 'lily'!

my grandpa's name was shelby and my grandma's name was mary lou. so i'm shelby lou! hahah. a lot of my family is southern so im often called "shelbuhloo"

I am not sure what Robin could mean. Robin banks? No, that would mean jail time. Robin from the poor? No,too mean. Now if you call me Rob, still same meaning. Sunlife..... When I wake up in the morning (summertime) I usually go outside to get the sun to shine on my face. I feel like I'm looking into heaven looking at God. Btw this page picked my name.
