Calling All Readers!

This is our December 2020 Reading Rabbits Book Posting. You can post your comments and suggestions about any book/magazine/newspaper that does/doesn't have to do with any medical issues on this posting. You can mention about your favorite authors, as well. This posting will be pinned to the Pinned Posts for easier access.

Near the end of October, I had been reading: β€œRose Madder”, by Stephen King. I’m on β€œ Part 6: The Temple of the Bull” and on chapter 6, page 272. It’s where Rose had been looking at her picture she had bought/exchanged her wedding and engagement rings at the pawnshop and got the picture with the name Rose Madder on the back of it. She brought it home to her new home after she left the β€œDaughters and Sisters” to live on her own after getting a job reading out loud for her voice to be used. One night, she looked at her picture/painting from the pawnshop and saw crickets living underneath the matted backing for the picture. She used scissors to see how many crickets were in the backing of the painting/picture and saw lots of them fall out on to the kitchen counter. She had an idea and wanted to see where the idea/theory took her. So, one night, she took the picture/painting onto the deck area and stepped inside the picture/painting. She is with Rose Madder and is trying to move through the Temple to get a crying baby and bring it back to Rose Madder since she isn’t allowed to go too far to the Temple. We’ll see where this goes soon.

Okay, what have you been reading or plan to read this month? I’m planning to read two books after I finish β€œ Rose Madder”. The first book is: β€œ The 6th Target”, by James Patterson ( it’s a book from the β€œ The Women’s Murder Club” series) and the other book is: β€œ Holly and Ivy an Uplifting Novel”. β€œHolly and Ivy” is a holiday-themed book written by Fern Michaels.

Hi Folks; I'm not on your reading rabbits club, but hope you don't mind.

I'm currently reading The Lollipop Shoes, which is a sequel to Chocolat, by Joanne Harris, and also dipping in and out of the Jungle Books by Kipling.

I have a pile of books to catch up on, but somehow I seem to have lost my urge to read much, probably Covid related, as I seem to have become woolly-minded lately.

I have a vast library, although I have culled many authors lately from my favourites lists, also left many books behind in my last home.

Hi Midori,

Everyone can always join in on the Monthly Book Posting anytime! We love hearing about anything books-related and in general.πŸ˜€πŸ‘πŸŒˆπŸ“–πŸ‡πŸ“š

The book by Joanne Harris sounds interesting. I will have to check it out online and see if it’s near me or not. How long is it?πŸ˜€πŸ‘πŸŒˆ

The Lollipop Shoes is about 600 pages and Chocolat about 400 pages. They are both set in France, the author has homes in both in both England and France. There are two other books as well, Peaches for Monsier le Cure, and the latest is The Strawberry Thief.

I had a Kindle years ago, but it finally stopped charging the battery it came with inside, so I decided to just read without one. Easier to travel with and doesn't require electricity. :-)

Before I got many wonderful book recommendations from folks in this group, I was re-reading Loise Penny's murder mystery series starting with Still Life. Most of the books in the series are set in a small cozy village in Canada. It's all images of antique arm chairs, crackling fireplaces and café au lait until *BOOM* dead body 😬

How many books are in the series? This sounds very interesting. Thank you for sharing this with us. :-)

in reply to Activity2004

Of course 😊 I think that there are currently 13 books in the series (at least that's how many I own). Just make sure that you have some hot cocoa or a cheese platter on hand while you are reading because food is central to the stories and relationships of the characters, so you're bound to get hungry β˜•πŸ₯πŸͺ

Good idea! Thank you! Lately, even when the books I read have nothing to do with food, I have a cup of hot tea to drink when reading. Part of that is also because of the cold temps. we're having now. :-)

I have finished β€œRose Madder”, by Stephen King last night before going to sleep. It was really good and I was very happy with the way it ended.

My next book is β€œHolly and Ivy β€œ, by Fern Michaels. I'm excited to start the story today. This was a gift for the holidays this year.πŸ˜€πŸ‘πŸŒˆπŸ“šπŸ‡πŸ“–

A holiday-themed story.
