AS MOST OF YOU ALREADY KNOW THE COVID NUMBERS WERE SOARING IN FLORIDA AND ARE STILL PRETTY HIGH. MARTIN COUNTY MADE WEARING A MASK MANDATORY AND STORES WOULDN'T ALLOW YOU IN W/OUT A MASK. THE NUMBERS HAVE FLATTENED AS PREDICTED THEY WOULD. SO, THE IDIOTS WHO RUN THINGS DECIDED THAT EXPIRED AND THEY WILL NOW LEAVE IT UP TO THE PEOPLE TO CONTINUE WEARING THEIR MASKS. WE KNOW THEY WON'T. I live on the Martin/St. Lucie county line.....what is going on is
unreal!!! We live in a totally “ME” society and don’t give a damn about those around us. Today is the first day of school what an example being set!!!!

I LIVE IN MARTIN COUNTY TOO. I THINK IT WAS YESTERDAY THEY ANNOUNCED THAT THE NUMBERS WERE FLATTENING OUT IN THE COUNTY AFTER THEY MANDATED MASKS. THE MANDATE HAS EXPIRED AND THE IDIOTS SAID THEY WON'T CONTINUE WITH THE MANDATE BUT HOPE EVERYONE WILL CONTINUE WEARING THEM. ARE THEY KIDDING? IF THEY WOULD CLOSE THE DAMNED BARS AND HAVE PENALTIES FOR NOT WEARING A MASK THINGS MIGHT JUST KEEP IMPROVING. THE NEXT DISASTER WILL COME WITH SCHOOL OPENINGS. WHY AREN'T THEY HAVING EVERY CHILD TESTED BEFORE THEY ARE ALLOWED TO GO BACK TO SCHOOL? IS THAT SO HARD? VERY FRUSTRATING!

There's slouch a lot of confusion still about wearing a mask. Your example suggests mask wearing does help. It would be easier if they said we all had to wear one.
IT DOES HELP AND THEY HAVE BEEN TELLING US REPEATEDLY TO WEAR MASKS AND DISTANCE. MAYBE ONE DAY IT WILL SINK IN AND WE CAN GET RID OF THIS DISASTER.
It's not just happening in the US, it's happening here in the UK too.
I KNOW. MY FRIENDS DAUGHTER MARRIED SOMEONE IN LEEDS. NONE OF THEM WEAR MASKS. NOT EVEN HER HUSBANDS ENTIRE FAMKLY. SHE DIDN'T WEAR ONE ALL THE MONTHS SHE WAS PREGNANT AND HAS BOUGHT A NEWBORN HOME AND HAD MANY UNMASKED PEOPLE TO SEE THE BABY.
I DON'T UNDERSTAND THIS AT ALL.
Please remember that not everyone is able to wear a mask for whatever reason and they don’t need the added pressure of being negatively judged or berated for this difficulty.

In all countries, those that could wear a mask and should have been wearing one since day one as per the South Koreans who very few took note of were negligent . If there is a valid excuse to not wear one then so be it but the deplorable situation whereby the majority have not been wearing a mask is shameful...... This underlines the general complacency of the general public who were gullible and should not have believed the lies and propaganda re masks do not protect the individual wearing one.....
My industrial P3+ mask only protects the wearer and does not protect anyone else & yet the so called experts continued to contradict the safety aspect and data on masks and continued to publicise lies to the general public. These individuals will not care about their lying because this is what they are used to = flannel.
Ask any paint sprayers if they would not wear a mask and therefore be guaranteed to breathe in cyanide or use a mask and be protected from that gas and see what they say....... This is the similarity of stupidity of this virus situation and is a comparison.
The excuses are legion as to why masks are not worn and it is because masks are not worn enough by all the population everywhere is why this virus will continue to spread.
To confirm a lot do not know the first thing about mask wearing for protection of the respiratory tract, a lady on this forum thought and broadcast that gloves had got to be worn when wearing a mask and visa versa. The mind boggles the same as it does when you see those wearing masks over thick bushy beards and those who drop them so that just the lips are covered. What do these people know or care about?
The South Koreans had the compulsory mask must be worn when in public and that should have been the case all over from day one and mandatory. To go with that legislation the mask must be worn correctly 'or else' should have been implemented as well.
Can some common sense be brought into this serious situation = I very much doubt it.

I COULDN'T AGREE WITH YOU MORE. I'M AFRAID SO MANY HAVE BEEN RAISED TO BELIEVE THEY ARE THE CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE AND THE HELL WITH EVERYBODY ELSE. I DON'T BELIEVE SO MANY CAN BE THAT STUPID BUT I DO BELIEVE THEY ARE THAT THOUGHTLESS AND SELFISH. IT'S REALLY QUITE SAD. THERE SHOULD BE CONSEQUENCES. I WEAR AN N-95 MASK AND FIND IT VERY DIFFICULT TO BREATH IN IT, BUT I DON'T TAKE IT OFF IN PUBLIC. I ALSO HAVE COMPROMISED BREATHING ISSUES SO I UNDERSTAND THE DIFFICULTIES AND STILL USE A MASK. I JUST DON'T STAY IN PUBLIC FOR LONG PERIODS. IF EVERYONE COMPLIED IN THE BEGINNING WE MIGHT BE DONE WITH THIS BY NOW AND HOW MANY PEOPLE WOULD STILL BE ALIVE. THERE SHOULD BE PENALTIES BUT THE GOVERNOR OF MY STATE IS AN ABSOLUTE MORON.
TO THE PEOPLE WHO BELIEVE THEY HAVE "RIGHTS". YES THEY DO AND YES THEY CAN BE TOLD WHAT TO DO. WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO DRIVE A VEHICLE BUT YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW THE RULES OF THE ROAD, I.E.
SPEED LIMITS, SEAT BELTS, TRAFFIC SIGNS AND LIGHTS. YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO SPEAK BUT YOU WILL BE ARRESTED IF YOU YELL FIRE IN A CROWDED PLACE. SIMPLY PUT, THERE ARE RULES TO FOLLOW SO YOU DON'T ENDANGER OTHERS OR YOURSELF.

I agree! People that don’t wear masks, especially in enclosed public environments, could spread the virus if they were asymptomatic, and, because the virus cannot be seen, readily, they could be carriers. So, everybody needs to comply, for this preventative mask-wearing to work! It is frustrating for me and my wife, because we are both high risk!
Thanks for acknowledging that for some wearing a mask is difficult. I, like yourself, choose to wear a mask but limit my time in public due to the issues it causes me as the mask triggers my blepharospasm big time.
I think the blanket ‘everyone should...’ statement really gets to me because so often those with hidden disabilities are misunderstood at best and abused at times.... it is appalling how many individuals are verbally (occasionally physically) abused for using disabled parking spaces, disabled seating on public transport or disabled toilets simply because the abuser cant see the disability....... so not only are individuals having to live with hidden conditions such as intermittent- remittant MS, bowel disorders, rheumatic disorders, balance issues, OCPD issues, visual impairments (to name but a few) they have to also look over their shoulder when using the very things that are in place to try and make life easier for them because abusers don’t ‘see’ why they are using these facilities.
As for making sound choices.... I don’t think our track record as a species has proven us to be the wisest on the planet so people will continue to, during a pneumonia based pandemic, get into sealed flying tin cans with hundreds of others breathing recycled air for several hours just so they can be somewhere else; bang on about the ‘right to bear arms’ rather than the ‘right to choose not to bear arms’; continue to buy tat that is nothing more than glorified land fill..... and I could go on and on!!

I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE SAYING. I HAVE LITERALLY BEEN IN MY HOUSE (AND YARD) FOR 5 MONTHS. I HAVE NOT LET ANYONE IN AND I HAVE ONLY GONE 4 TIMES FOR BLOOD WORK- IN AND OUT QUICKLY. IT'S TRUE, YOU CAN'T SEE A PERSON'S PHYSICAL CONDITION BY LOOKING AT THEM AND SOME HAVE VERY VALID REASONS. THE SAD PART IS SO MANY HEALTHY PEOPLE HEARD THE EXCEPTION "FOR MEDICAL REASONS" AND ARE USING IT WHILE PERFECTLY HEALTHY. THE SELFISHNESS IS INCREDIBLY SAD.

The people who ‘run’ many countries are the worst offenders, vanity!! Not wanting to be photographed wearing a mask. Do as l say, not as l do, etc.
My son lives and works in Hong Kong as an English teacher. They have just gone onto lockdown again, prior to this every child arriving at school would be checked, temperature taken, correct masks etc, they had Perspex dividers between each student. The whole class was sprayed daily.
All very strict, all the teachers were also checked on arrival at the school. They had no cases of Covid-19.

It is not surprising seeing the none wearers of masks...... the old saying it takes all sorts to make a world is correct. It is a disgusting fact that there are many who do not care,simple as that. The UK government is still stating in the latest ridiculous info that a mask does not protect the wearer.
It is well established by professionals who I cannot believe are quiet on this subject that a mechanical filter must work two ways not one....... This is apart from a mask that has a none filtered none return /check valve for exhaled air. Any singular surface filter material must be as efficient whichever way the air transmits through it.
How on earth can this be denied.
Who are these people who are publicising this nonsense and what are their credentials.

This morning's television news re the students /schools confirms the neglect to mask wearing. The legislation states masks should be worn in all enclosed spaces. The interviewer and the head teacher speaking within 'contamination distance' to each other neither of whom had a mask on. No screen either, not that that would have been protective as air currents are unpredictable.
The whole situation is totally unacceptable until all people in confined spaces or close contact outside have respiratory protection.
They have not and do not by their publicity take note of China ,South Korea, Taiwan and others who have got more control of the virus than other countries.
Are they not capable of seeing what other successful people do and take note of those facts?
I see an article by the USA library of health is about the lack of data re the differences between the green medical mask so prevalent in the UK and the N95 white mask with it's clip that seals the nose bridge.
It is way past the time when these differences are resolved.
It is quite unacceptable that in this scientific age there are many unknowns regarding what mask to buy and wear properly for maximum protection. There is also the unknown where the correct mask can be accessed and bought.
The South Koreans still seem to be the world's best experienced initiators regards 'what to do' that is helpful regarding this pandemic & yet many of their ideas are not being paid attention to. I am interested why that is. Keep wearing that mask and preferably an N95 one!

I HAVE FRIENDS IN THE UK AND THEY TELL ME THE SAME SITUATION IS GOING ON OVER THERE. THE ASIAN PEOPLE AREN'T AS SPOILED WITH OUR CONVENIENCES AND "ME FIRST" ATTITUDES. SADLY, THAT'S THE WAY IT IS NOW. YOU'RE RIGHT, THE N95 SEEM TO BE THE MASKS THAT CAN KEEP GERMS OUT. HARD TO WEAR FOR LENGTHS OF TIME BECAUSE IT IS SO HARD TO BREATH IN THEM. Those not wearing a mask in confined spaces are supposed to get a £100 fine.... It's not happening. What those not wearing a mask do not take in is that it could mean their death.

Some people can’t wear masks because of disability’s and conditions there’s a difference between not wanting to wear one and can’t wear one . For example people who are autistic or are on the spectrum can’t wear masks because of sensory issues another example people with Tourette’s might not wear a mask because of the tics that they have it depends on the severity of it . My brother is on the autism spectrum But he does know how to wear a mask and it doesn’t bother him at all it depends on the person ☺️
