DOES [OR DID] ANYONE HAVE TROUBLE WITH GETTING A DECISION OUT OF DVLA?raymck

I AM STILL WAITING THEIR MEDICAL TEAM'S DECISION ON MY CAPABILITY TO DRIVE AFTER 7 MONTHS OF REPORTING SINGLE-SIGHT, WHICH IS MANDATORY. TWO EYE TESTS HAVE BEEN UNDERTAKEN AT THEIR CHOSEN OPTICIAN, BUT SEVERAL WEEKS ARE APPARENTLY REQUIRED FOR THE RESULTS TO BE ASSESSED, NOT TO MENTION A MONTH'S BACKLOG! [APPARENTLY DUE TO LARGE NO. OF CASES]?

I had to wait a few months for the return of my new over-70 driving licence because I'd had to report glaucoma on the application form. Following more form-filling and tests at the DVLA's chosen optician, the licence was granted.

It does get a bit stressful waiting for the decision, but we have a friend who has had only one eye for many years but happily at the age of 77 he is still allowed to drive.

However, 7 months does seem a long time to await a decision and let's hope you hear soon.

  • HELLO AGAIN CELTIC [& ANY OTHERS SIMILARLY AFFECTED]. I FINALLY GOT A SHINY NEW [REPLACEMENT, ACTUALLY FOR THE 1 THAT HAD EXPIRED] DRIVERS LICENCE + AN APOLOGY FOR DVLA TAKING SO LONG.[10 MONTHS].

APPARENTLY DUE TO A LARGE CASEBOOK AND LACK OF STAFF? THEY HAD THE COURTESY TO PHONE TODAY & ASK IF I HAD RECEIVED IT + COVERNOTE, WHICH I WAS REALLY HAPPY TO CONFIRM, BUT 1/2-WAY THROUGH THE TELCON THE [WELSH-OBVIOUSLY] LADY RANG OFF, SO SHE DID NOT WAIT TO ANSWER ANY QUERIES OR HEAR ANY COMPLAINTS. AH WELL, I GOT IT & THAT'S THE MAIN THING. THANKS FOR SUPPORT, ETC. raymck

  • THANKS CELTIC, IT WAS REASSURING TO HEAR THAT I AM NOT BEING VICTIMISED. APPRECIATE YOU TAKING THE TIME TO RESPOND. HOPE IT WILL SOON BE RESOLVED TO EVERYONES SATSFACTION!

    REGARDS
