Well, have completed most admin after my man's death and struggled through cremation. I want to thank all of you who sent comments, encouragement and love ❤️. Have increased pred by 5 mgs (3.5 for last year) and have been struck by the increased amount of energy I feel. No pain (I increased as a preventative measure) but as I drop back to usual level the energy drops back too and I realise I have been lacking energy for a while - put it down to stress whilst caring for man. Now I wonder - is this adrenal fatigue/low function?
So next question, should I request adrenal function test? Have been on pred for nearly 8 years and with hindsight the fatigue kicked in when reduced to 3.5 about a year ago.
Think I have probably answered my own question - join the queue for GP appointment!
Thank you lovely people xx

A combination of both probably - and understandably so.. I think I’d continue at 3.5mg although 4 mg might not be a bad idea… you still have a lot on your plate.
Many of us know bereavement has a habit of knocking you for six at unexpected times and places… so if an extra bit of Pred helps, then so be it.
You could request cortisol levels be tested, and probably from being on Pred for so long it would be prudent.
Like DL - I'd go to 4mg if that makes you feel more human. Or even whatever makes you feel more human. Bereavement is hard enough without feeling rubbish because your adrenals aren't quite coping. You might think you have sorted the admin - bits will appear now and again for ages yet. Even a letter addressed to us both makes me shake until I know what it is - last weeks was OK- the two parties who SHOULD have told the council hadn't so I got a council tax bill that is nothing to do with me!! Post from the UK gets lost - and some years ago I almost got a CCJ against me for non-payment of council tax! It was a near thing, the second summons got to me, never got the first.
Haven't got to the CCJ yet but have had refund from HMRC! Yes, I know the shaking bit and thought I was prepared, but.....Will stick with 4 mgs for a while, appreciate your wisdom as always xx
Hi P,just wanted to add that I am glad you are seeing light at the end of the tunnel regarding all that goes with the death of a loved one, time to think of yourself now and do whatever is best for your health regarding the Pred.Thinking of you,xx💐
