Last month for some reason my CRP spiked from .6 to 46 which was very surprising as I was and still am feeling fine.
Yesterday my blood was re-analysed and I am happy to say the CRP went down to <.5
I think the spike may have been due to the fact that one week prior to last months blood work, I suffered some kind of flu bug.
I continue to exercise twice a week (one hour sessions) and I truly believe this will aid in stimulating my adrenal glands and also strenghthen my bones at the same time. Never too late to start exercising - I am 75 and taking it slowly as to not hurt myself.

That happened to me a couple of times. I am always high anyway but it went very high! I felt fine but the first time they tested me for cancer and goodness knows what. It then went down again like with you.
I had a similar random spike recently which alarmed my rheumatolgist. The trouble is that CRP shows there's is inflammation somewhere, but it's not necessarily due to PMR it could be anything. Glad you're back to normal and yes it's essential for our physical and mental health to keep moving and grooving
It isn't uncommon - and a single raised ESR or CRP without symptoms should never result in a kneejerk increase in pred dose. They are indicators of inflammation or infection but not specific to any single cause. Chest inections in particular can have a very dramatic effect on CRP!
