Update from Mr and Mrs PMR

Hi All - just sharing in case it’s helpful to anyone. MrPMR started on 20mg 5 weeks ago, doing well - managing and resisting the temptation to do too much. After a hiccup whilst changing GPs, no follow up tests or advice re next steps, we paid for a private consult with a rheumy and found a great GP. For anyone in East Anglia we went to Dr Anita Weerakoon at the Nuffield in Ipswich. Not a PMR specialist but very thorough, wrote an excellent letter for the new GP. We went armed with various papers/guides shared on this forum. New GP referred to Max Yates at N&N, ordered a barrage of tests, wrote prescriptions for 1 and 5mg of Pred, and has scheduled in fortnightly blood tests. Allowing us to taper at the rate that works for Mr PMR. GCA hasn’t turned up yet but we remain mindful. We’re thinking a four week taper to 18mg - I’d appreciate it if anyone had any thoughts on that as the next step? Best to all and continued thanks for this forum.

Sounds like you’ve got a great GP.

Taper sounds doable..but you won’t know until you try… good luck.

Please keep us informed of MrPMR’s progress

All sounds good to me! But as DL says - the proof of the pudding will be in the eating! If it works for him - great, If he struggles - slow down.
