PMR Flare Up ?

After being on 15mg press for 5 weeks and then 12.5mg for 4 weeks I have just dropped to 10mg. Since then on two occasions after doing some physical work I have had really bad night sweats followed by feeling really unwell the next day, Really exhausted and some back and hip pain. Could this be due to PMR flare ups due to over exertion ,?

Hi and welcome

Although your taper is a recommended in guidelines., many find that dropping 2.5mg at a time too much.. so would say your issues are combination of 10mg not being quite enough and overdoing things.

Maybe return to 12.5mg for a week or so, and then reduce by a smaller amount - provided your 2.5mg are plain uncoated Pred you can cut in half and reduce by 1.25mg- or request 1mg tablets, you need then anyway once you get to 10mg .

Hi Dorest Lady,

Thank you for your advice, I have returned to the 12.5mg as suggested and I am trying to pace myself more when doing physical activity.
