Enhanced Annuity
Enhanced annuity of what exactly?
In my experience, even with loss of sight in one eye I wasn’t awarded basic rate of AA… or anything come to that. Not that I’d had expected to be, but thought worth asking.
If you are already in receipt of some benefit for other reasons, it might be reviewed…
I have a personal pension that I have not taken out yet. Some people qualify for an enhanced annuity, i.e. get more money over a standard annuity, if they have certain health conditions. I just wondered if anyone on this forum has an enhanced annuity due to having GCA. I need to declare health conditions so will find out if I qualify anyway.
Thanks.
The whole annuity thing seems really complicated (to me anyway) but my take is that GCA isn’t thought to be life shortening on its own? Unlike smoking etc. Lots of other factors as well would be taken into account such as age and where you live too? Will be interesting to hear. All the best.
GCA isn't usually considered to be life-limiting, life expectation is much the same as for someone without it. That is the usual criterion for an enhanced annuity as you aren't expected to live as long to get your benefit out of the pension pot so they take that into consideration.
Probably the best thing to do is check with various pension companies. You may even prefer an income drawdown.
