I am having a cortisal test on Monday. I know I have to refrain from taking pred until after it but can I have my morning cuppa and porridge before the test?

No reason why not that I know of. The Worcester Acute Hospitals info sheet is here

No need to fast, no pred for at least 24 hours before the test.
