I’ve managed to reduce to 2mg with 1 mg on alternate days. I haven’t felt particularly tired. Occasionally weepy, wobbly Does this mean my adrenal glands have kicked in already or not at all? I keep very busy and walk quite a lot.
Thanks in anticipation x

Means they are trying, but not at full function.... and maybe not for some time yet - that can take anything up to 12 months even after finishing Pred...
You might find reducing by 1/2mg [provided you have plain uncoated tablets] nudges them a bit more - they like a REALLY slow taper..
Thank you DorsetLady. I had thought/hoped that since I’ve got my energy back the adrenals would be functioning. Ah well. Patience needed. I have the enteric coated preds because of hiatus hernia but will go very slowly
The Weepy Wobblies is when they are not working properly and when you don’t think about it and get on with your life, they are. Given how unpleasant it is, reduce really slowly. I found 0.5mg was doable but 1mg drops were too much. 0.5mg might be better because your body is having a deficit on a daily basis rather than getting extra Pred every other day. On this front, we are all different and some find alternating ok but definitely didn’t. Adrenal function is often not seamlessly achieved but tends to sputter like a rusty engine for months. You won’t know if yours are really working reliably until you have been challenged quite a lot with different things and got through them without the WW’s.
I love the 'Weepy Wobblies' and think we should adopt it. Although it does not cover the blood-fury that happens when someone comes back with a huge bag of walnut pieces, not halves.
Ana, I had the WW's without feeling particularly tired unless I overdid things. I think there seems to be a dose, under five, and it differs for all of us, when we feel emotional. Mine was around three. I'm on 2 now, and feel ok, apart from blips with walnuts.
in my wisdom I decided to drop from 2mg prednisolone then to 1 mg, and then nothing over the course of two months. That was a big mistake as the pain came back in my shoulders and neck and depression set in. Having been away for the weekend and mixing with a lot of people, I now have covid, two red lines since last Wednesday, but thankfully , due to vaccines and boosters, it hasn’t been, so far, touch wood, relatively mild. Obviously I went back to 2 mg and the pain went away. I think I will stay on that for the foreseeable, no point in suffering. With polymyalga , and self medicating,as trying to get an appointment these days is nye on impossible, it’s trial and error. Hopefully one day it just might go away, along with the tears.
That’s the other side of the coin. I was always up ‘up to here’ and had a short fuse. However, walnut pieces instead of halves is a just cause for a bit of wrath in my book.
We had a full bag of halves already. It wasn't on the list. He took over shopping in covid and loves it. Usually he is good. Even lifts up the trays of vege to look underneath. So fury over and not complaining.
Lucky you - shopping was my responsibility for 50 years! He usually came with me but was really more hindrance than help and tended to disappear when required!!!!
I'm actually feeling quite well atm though, so I am making the most of it. It would be nice to think that I am starting to get better at last, but I have more or less accepted that I will go up and down, before it gets better.
They don't "kick in" all of a sudden and everything is fine - they wake up gradually and may not be functioning reliably over a long period for most people. So you may have a good day - and then a less good day. It can be up to a year after stopping pred altogether before they settle down
