The time that works best for you, as at any stage. It is certainly best to take it as early in the day as possible since the lowest level possible at midnight is required to stimulate adrenal function which is why the 2am timing is good - as it also ensures a good early morning.

That is interesting  PMRpro I didn't know about the midnight thing as am currently at 3.5-4mg and trying to get adrenals active with a Short Synathecen test booked for 31 July. But I have also been doing 16/8 intermittent fasting which means often not taking Pred till well after midday when I have breakfast (literally), more to try to lose weight than anything (nothing works) so maybe I should hold off the fasting till I know what my adrenals are up to and take an earlier dose...

2am for me, with some yoghurt, goes down easily.

If your PMR is still active ( even just a little bit) I would continue to take Pred very early in the morning and indeed did so myself. Now that I'm confident the PMR is in remission I have switched to 8am with breakfast. However, on my 1.25mg days (DSNS taper) which are still only 3 per week) I sometimes feel so dreadful between 3pm and 6pm with lower abdominal discomfort, nausea, very sensitive to noise or anything which irritates me, aches and fatigue I am going to try taking the Pred a bit later at 9.30am hoping that gets me through the late afternoon slump which is characteristic of AI. As PMRPro has said, the most important thing is to have minimal Pred in your system by midnight to trigger natural cortisol production which is a process that cannot be rushed.

I always took my meds at 9 am. Methl predisone seemed to work best for me. Got to 0 for a few weeks but my adrenal gland didnt seem ready. Very tired, lightheaded, weak, with flu like muscle pain . 1 mg daily seems to be working to get me back to 'normal'. Will try a slow taper back to 0 in a few weeks.
