Day 1 of Pred

I finally accepted I need pred after dithering around trying to convince myself I could get through this with anti inflammatory diet etc etc. Doctor was helpful in answering my various questions and prescribed a weeks worth with omeprozole (had a few issues in the past with heartburn).

Wish me luck!

okay, so fingers crossed it works for you, what dose? 15mg? Just be aware a week may not be enough to get full relief.

Good luck with it.

Well some do get a miraculous result, but not everyone so don’t be disheartened if it takes you a bit longer….and do keep notes so you can report the good things [hopefully] to doctor. 😊

oh yes, I’m a believer in note taking. My diary is an invaluable source of reference for all sort of things - ask my family members! 😂

If you get the relief I did with 15mg - DON'T rush around catching up on everything!!!! Fingers crossed.

Thanks for the advice. I don't think I'll be rushing round any time soon. It's 3 hours since I took the 15mg and feel a bit weird - sort of spaced out which I wasn't expecting.

Just have a restful day today then -not an unusual feeling at the beginning -give you body time to adjust to Pred.

Some people do experience that a few hours after taking pred as it gets into the blood stream - a few have taken their pred at bedtime so they sleep though it.

Good luck. I know the feeling...wanting to do it with diet etc. Keep ON with the anti-inflammatory diet but in truth PMR needs prednisone alas. Good luck! also when I started prednisone 15mg. I was speeding around for a week. LOVED it. but then came back to earth and had exhausting times and all the other side effects. BUT take care of yourself. and rest when you must. look through all the FAQs it will help and ASK anything on this forum. It is the best!! I have been lucky in this journey and with some bumps in the road have been able to walk-exercise, teach yoga and be pretty much myself. I must add. I am quite content sitting on the couch.. also so when I had to I was happy to!

Good luck, hope it all goes well. You might not but if you do get early relief please remember to still take life easy with lots of rest. FAQ's and there is always someone here to answer questions and rant to.

My experience, exactly. I hated to give in to taking Pred but quality of life without it was unsustainable. I do wish you luck and would love to know how you're doing.

thanks for your good wishes. Today has been a turning point. I would say I’m 95% better. However for the past hour or so I have been having a new experience - shooting pains in my shins. There’s always something isn’t there? The reason could be that I walked up a small incline and had a few minutes on a tennis court with my grandsons. I know, I should have taken heed of the warnings of all you experienced people - don’t do too much. But it was such sunny weather and I found I was able to walk about practically pain free and I was so happy. I’ll be good tomorrow, promise.

Schoolgirl error! I did the same. I started pred on the Tuesday and by the Saturday I felt so good (and a bit wired if I’m honest) that I went up a couple of mountains in the Highlands. I did the same on the Sunday. In my defence I hadn’t found this site then and was Iiving in blissful ignorance but I soon learned. I’m sure you will too. Good luck.
