Eye op and upping pred

Hi all, I've been on 1mg for 2 weeks and my shoulder pains have been getting steadily worse ( for the second time). I also had a bit of a cold, shivery etc, so thought that was causing the aching, but I really think it's the Pmr. So I've got a laser op on my eye this morning. I think I should up to 3 to clear out the pmr but don't want it to impede the healing process. Should I just up to 2?

I upped to 3 or a few days before (recently)then to 2 for 2 weeks and felt good. I think I should have stayed at 2.

I don't understand the Sick day rules - surely the pred increase would delay the healing process?

Thanks!

Pred at that low level is unlikely to make a lot of difference - it is less than the cortisol the body normally makes to function, and in illness or stress it makes more cortisol do encourage recovery - sometimes up to 9 or 10 times the usual level.

Someone said recently that their eye surgeon told them not to worry about the pred dose, it would help the healing process. You are commonly given steroid eye drops to aid the healing process.

And yes - I think you should stay at 2mg if that is enough. A steady dose at a slightly higher level is far better than yo-yoing your dose which can lead to making it harder to reduce later.

Keep your pred at a level your body tells you too.My GP cut me down to 10mg a day without telling me.

I cannot manage on 10 so take the 15.....just run out quicker.

When all inflammation lessens with slightly lower dose then you will know you can manage with less.

Body knows best....
