Three years of pmr with two bad flares. On 2mg for 6 months. Gentle swimming and yoga every other day. Have got, quite quickly, very severe spasm pain in back and ribs. Another flare/relapse? Should I do what gp advised last time. Back to 10mg then down to 5 fairly quickly and then v slowly? Thanks I’m worried and fed up.

I suppose you could try the higher dose - but I would suggest this is myofascial pain syndrome rather than the PMR per se.

I believe one way to test if it is PMR pain is to take a painkiller. In US it’s Tylenol. I believe it is called Pramadol elsewhere. If that

works it is not PMR. I get a lot of back pain from my acid stomach. If it responds to an antacid I know not to worry about a relapse. Good luck to you
