Could Rheumatoid Arthritis be wrongly diagnosed as PMR ??

PMR OR RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS
LORA/EORA (late onset or elderly onset RA) can present identically to PMR, it is called a polymyalgic presentation) and despite studies they haven't been able to find features that provide a lcue.
If you do have RA there is a community on HU which might be useful -
That has happened to a friend of mine quite recently. She was diagnosed with PMR they then decided it was RA.
Hi. I was initially diagnosed with PMR. I had 'classic' PMR symptoms with severe shoulder and hip pain which completely stopped me sleeping. But after a couple of weeks my hands swelled up as well and once I saw a Rheumatologist I was diagnosed with 'Polymyalgic Onset Inflammatory Arthritis'.
My rheumatologist kept thinking that my PMR was RA. But the blood test was negative (which is only about 25% accurate). She tried me on various RA meds (while also taking prednisone) but it didn't help me. I think she has finally accepted that I don't have RA since doing a couple of MRI on my hands that do not show inflammation normally seen with RA. I do have several joints with osteoarthritis.
I hope you don't mind me following this...I was early diagnosed with pmr then changed to inflammatory then rheumatoid and now seronegative arthritis...having aches at and spoke to rheuny nurse yesterday qnd when I queried it says on records that I have both seronegative arthritis and PMR...seems that the info hasn't been transfered to my letters whebhwy send updates...
Would like to see what others say...as its all very interesting to read lol
Thank you x
