Sorry if I've missed recent posts but got Covid last Sunday. Still testing positive. early symptoms gone but today, Day 7, absolutely exhausted. been on Pred for 8 years normally taking 7mg daily. Should I have upped my dose at start of symptoms, and is it too late to do it now? Many Thanks

Are you wondering about upping Pred because you’re expecting to be feeling better after a week? I’d say of the 12 people I know personally who have had Covid this year, 8 of them felt absolutely exhausted for a good 2 weeks after the initial symptoms faded. Three of them were aged 18, 20 and 22 and the others over 40. As to whether to up the Pred, if it was me I’d stay put unless I was beginning to feel increasingly shakey, weak, new feeling of deep worry, nausea, abdominal or low back ache (Covid can do that though but it’s usually in the first week). Others would increase the Pred. There is no right answer I suspect, but a chat with your doctor if they’re not hiding, would be an idea.
I think Snazzy is right - if you've got this far without extra pred, I wouldn't worry too much unless I started to feel worse rather than better. But after a week you can't expect to feel OK. It isn't flu I know - but after a week of proper flu, I was still in bed! And I suspect CV is worse than flu, even in the Omicron guise.
I have been sent several months ago a PCR testing kit, are people still doing them if we get covid?....Just reminded me after reading the above post....
Yes but I decided against as I was feeling much better by then I do have Hospital phone daily for Oxygen levels Heart Rate and a chat to see how I feel .
Thay say it takes about 2 weeks to get back to normal
I used the PCR test I was sent on Friday and yesterday was informed I am positive. Feel awful with terrible cough that keeps me awake. I was contacted yesterday by a consultant pharmacist in the Covid team. Very impressed. I was actually told I don’t need antivirals as Tocilizumab should still be in my system, I stopped it two weeks ago, and that is protective. Reassuring though.
