Will being sick affect my steroid dose.

Hi everyone, I was sick this morning about 15-20 minutes after taking my prednisolone. Would this mean I wouldn't have digested the dose? I take 7mg at 7.30 every morning (which I was sick after) and 5mg at 10 am. Should I take any extra at 10am, maybe an extra 1mg just in case?

I think I would Chewy21. The chances are that you lost it. If you get a bit extra overall it may help you if you are ill. Run it past your prescribing doctor unless they give you autonomy in the small adjustments, mine does.

Thank you. My old gp let me adjust my dose if I needed to, within reason of course. But I've not met my new one yet and he's not there today. I did take an extra 1mg with my 5mg earlier and managed to keep them down. I think I might try staying in bed today and hopefully that'll help see me through until tomorrow. It's always so hard to know what to do in these situations.

It takes about an hour to be fully absorbed - also depending what else was in your stomach at the time, takes longer with food as well.

A bit too much is probably better than abit too little. Especially if you are ill - your body will need a bit of help with the corticosteroid.
