Not exactly but being on Pred can make your blood go up a lot so it looks like you’ve got diabetes. However, it depends on your dose and that doesn’t mean you’re diabetic if your blood sugars are up necessarily. Diet can make a a huge difference. Proper diabetes is when you can’t produce enough insulin to cope with the raised blood sugar. What is your dose and what are your blood sugar tests results?

I had type 2 diabetes before being diagnosed with PMR (well to be accurate Palindromic Rheumatism)

I had steroid induced pre diabetes a month after diagnosis, I was on 16mg. I did a month’s keto diet & reversed it. Now on 4.5mg I had a blood test in the New Year, just after eating so much sugar laden goods over the Christmas period & my results were fine! No idea what percentage at all, sorry. Please note, it was only pre diabetes, & reversed very quickly, I had follow up blood tests each month for 3 months, all fine.

No idea Ronzy - but as Snazzy explains it isn't true diabetes and will usually go away once you are on a lower dose of pred. It also doesn't happen to the same extent in everyone.

Pred makes your liver release random spikes of sugar from body stores - you can't do anything about that but you CAN control what is in your diet. In the last few months I haven't been as disciplined as I was and fully expected my Hba1c to have gone up to reflect that (is is a sign of the average BS level over time), At my last blood test, my morning blood sugar level was a bit up, 110 instead of under 100, it wasn't quite fasting, I'd had my morning cups of tea with milk, but my Hba1c remains at 36, the normal level.
