Is tinnitus like symptoms a GCA problem.

Yes it can be - the ears can be affected in GCA. Sure other who have same will be along with advice shortly.

I had tinnitus and hearing loss in the 2 years before diagnosis. It wasn’t considered significant enough to worry about tumours etc. There were no other red flags for GCA but with hindsight all was not well. I also had increasingly bad motion sickness in vehicles which middle ear related. On starting Pred tinnitus improved and the motion sickness resolved but the hearing got a bit worse on my worst side for GCA. Pred at high doses gave me a persistent ring and pulsing in my ears that reduced with dose. Then Covid in 2020 made the tinnitus much worse and permanent though it didn’t stir up my GCA. I’m not sure very many doctors routinely think GCA with tinnitus as the idea that it can damage the blood supply to the nerve to the ears is relatively recent.

Unfortunately the research result came out just as Covid hit and I doubt medics have had anytime to catch up.

Anyone can download it and take it with them to GP and/or Consultant.
