Since being on a maintenance dose of 5mg for some considerable time (2 yrs in fact) and have no PMR symptoms whatsoever I wonder whether I even have PMR at all now, I will however start a tapering off process and see how it goes.

I see that a year ago you posted when you were having issues at 2mg…..and we’re advised to go back to 5mg to get things back under control. Have you tried reducing since then or just remained at 5mg ever since?

It was suggested then you try reducing using a slow tapering plan - this is just one example - healthunlocked.com/pmrgcauk...

- and 0.5mg a time.

If you do as suggested you will find out what level controls symptoms (if you still have PMR) - and if you can get to zero with no problems and stay there for a few months, again with no symptoms, you will have your answer.

Good luck.

As DorsetLady suggests reduce slowly. Try 4.5mg and see how you feel. If you can go lower than 5mg that would be great.
