Adrenal glands: Hi,just wondering when you know... - PMRGCAuk
Adrenal glands
Similar question to “how long is a piece of string!” If you aren’t getting an signs of adrenals struggling - fatigue, nausea, lightheadedness etc you can hope they are functioning some degree - but you won’t know for sure until you been off the Pred for a fair amount of time, Can take up to a year to be fully functioning.
Maybe have a read of this - healthunlocked.com/pmrgcauk...
Thank you,I am still very tired,no energy etc, wiped out,
Sounds like adrenals struggling to me…give them time …
What's the best to do.
How long have you been on 4mg?
About a month nearly,go down til 3mg. September.
As DL says, give them time. They have their own schedule, even if your plan on paper says different. When you drop do you just drop one day and stay there or do a gradual introduction?
Just drop 1st.every and stay there for the month.
Many people find it so much less difficult introducing the new dose slowly rather than dropping in one fell swoop. Even 0.5mg helps. Have you seen the Dead Slow Nearly Stop method? Helps with poor adrenal function.
You stop feeling wobbly, empty, slightly ill, nauseated, emotional etc at the slightest provocation. You cope with more and more without feeling wiped out. Then you start to feel better and it takes more and more to cause a bad reaction and getting up in the mornings feels easier. However, you then need to beware that you may not always get through life’s challenges and from good days you get occasional events that will make you feel back to square one. You need to allow a year before you decide it’s all behind you. A year on I still carry an emergency pack of Pred and wear my medic alert bracelet because after months of being ok I’ve been tripped up by unusually stressful occasions that have caused a bit of an adrenal crisis. I had Synacthen tests at 4mg (ok but not great) and 1.5mg (quite good) and my daily symptoms backed up the numbers.
Yes, there are those for whom the story just keeps on unfolding . What I meant was that even though one might be feeling all is well, not to assume it is too soon. Glad you can see progress even if it is gradual. Is there any reason not to try the hydrocortisone just to see what happens?
It’s a short acting type of steroid that is often given to people whose adrenal function isn’t recovering as it might. That’s not you for now.
No, I hadn’t heard of the heterotrophic ossification before. Perhaps someone else will have. Perhaps the extra bone is being laid down in the soft tissue is in response to exercise trauma?? Sounds like you’ve got plenty going on to keep the docs busy, but being an enigma isn’t much fun.
OK.thanks.
