Need to ‘up’ dose, advice please

I was diagnosed with PMR in June 2019 and, as 15 mgs and 25 mgs didnt ease the pain, I was put on 40 mgs plus Methotrexate. I quickly dropped MTX and have been slowly tapering since then with no problems. I have now been on three quarters of a mg of Pred for weeks and feeling ok until the last few days. I now have slightly swollen and very stiff and painful hands, heavy stiff legs and sore arms. I know I need to up my dose but how high. 2 mgs? 5 mgs? And for how long before I taper down again. I would appreciate your advice. Thankyou

Maybe a few days of 5mg and then drop back to 2mg? Prof Dasgupta told us last summer he often keeps patients at 2-3mg longterm as it reduces the incidence of relapses.
