MRI RESULTS

I had an MRI done; haven’t yet met with doc to discuss. Neurologist wanted to do to rule out anything else other than GCA. Has anyone with GCA had an MRI done and if so did it sound similar???

Not sure I like the way the third point is expressed: brain is negative for patient's age ... ;) But they seem you think you are normal :)

I googled that microangiopathy. Not sure if I should be really alarmed or not. But I guess the doc will tell me. It seems to mean small bleeds in blood vessels.

I was told once that it is normal to see some white patches on a brain as a normal part of aging. At the time, I didn't have any which they said was unusual.

so what symptoms have you had that the neurologist wanted to rule out anything that may be there other than GCA? anything like TIA's or absence seizures or tingling or dropping things , dizzy etc?..just wondered what prompted the test by the neuro.

I’ve had vertigo several times in the last couple of years but that’s really all other than of course crushing headaches, blurred vision etc.

I had GCA I had a lump on the side of my head that throbbed constantly, for 3 years I went back and forth to the doctors until I refused to leave until they referred me to the hospital, day of hospital I had a ultra scan and was told by the vascular surgeon he thought gca, I had biopsy and yes it was gca, not one doctor picked up on it as my bloods were normal and I was in my 30s

ah, I am pretty clueless with understanding MRIs, just wondered. I note it said blood flow normal at skull base. I think mine may be normal there, but an MRA with time of flight(no contrast) shows blockages at one MCA and narrowing at another...not wanting to worry you. I used to have stuff like headaches and blurred vision and vertigo for decades too. I also have something about small hyperintense spots..can't recall what but some say they are nothing and others don't., but I suspect they are like mini-strokes (TIAs).. never heard of a migraine effect...maybe they were from that! Maybe just to rule out everything ask your neuro if an MRA wth time of flight (or arterial spin labelling) may show the blood vessels within your brain as well? (or maybe they are covered by what she ordered? Otherwise, sorry no help
