PMR and tapering.

Looking for advice and more information. I have been taking 5mg, tapering, for 16 days. I was surprised that yesterday I did the longest walk in the park, over rough uneven ground, that I have been able to do since PMR diagnosis last December. Then in the afternoon expected the dreadful usual fatigue to arrive, but this did not happen. I periodically watched the British Open golf and did chores around the house. I am trying to be cautious and not think this is a big step forward. I plan to stay at 5mg another week, then try dropping to 4.5. Any and all advixe is welcome.

You are allowed good days 🙂. Sometimes it takes a day or so to catch up, but you never know, you might get this one for free.

Enjoy. I find I can sometimes do unaccustomed activity with no blip and other times my ordinary daily walk will do me in for hours. Unpredictable.

As Heron & SnazzyD says sometimes we just get lucky 🍀 don’t push it though, l’m nowhere near as low as you (I wish) but l have a day in/day out so l can rest if l over tax myself & if l’m a lot below par l clear my diary.

Take it steady & Good Luck 🍀

It's all to do with balance .

The physio I now work with is always very conscious about telling people you should enjoy the good days but not take the activity too much further than what you can cope with on an average day .

As although it feels great while you are doing it ,and there may be no pain , the muscles are working more than they are used to and it's the day after that they tell you that they did too much. This then stops you doing things everyday .

The important thing to help you keep going and build up your activity is to do it gradually , it brings in consistency and stops the pain getting in the way of your physical life.

You sound like you are doing well on the taper but are on the point of breaching one of those tapering plateaus when the adrenals trying to kick back into gear begin to cause more side effects like Fatigue , tiredness and low moods. So as you go for it , take these 0.5 drops slowly , and allow yourself more time on each new level to build up your body nutrients and strength , when you feel confident on it and are able to function every day as you need you then go again.

Yes, to-day I am tired. Although this could partly be because I took a Xanax last night. I do suffer from insomnia quite a lot. Probably should have taken half a one, my usual dosage occasionally, when I feel I really need that night sleep. However, have managed to do several errands. I feel pleased just to have the legs move. To-morrow is my early morning at the park, If it goes well, good, if not, there is always another day. I hope. :)

Sure it will go well , you know to just keep in mind that you might be slower because of the long walk a few days before and be happy with the speed , you may even find you go a bit further than usual , it's that sort of thought and consistency that helps us increase back to activity levels we had before.

All the fresh air probably made you feel more tired too. You probably had a deeper sleep because if it .

I think I must be an eternal optimist, Although occasionally get a little "down" , but always pull myself out of it. It is great just to open my eyes each morning and greet the day.
