A Study to investigate the liver function of patients taking Methotrexate and risk stratify them accordingly – STrATIFy

I have received a letter from the hospital inviting me to take part in the above study. They want to study people taking Methotrexate and people who have never taken it.

I can get further information the next time I visit the Rheumatology department which, as luck would have it, is on Thursday. (I nearly cancelled this appointment as I am being monitored by the eye clinic, so now I am glad I didn’t!)

As I see it, if I am put in the ‘never taken Methotrexate’ group (I will not agree to take part otherwise) I will never again have to worry about the Rheumy pushing me to take the stuff!

Has anyone else heard of this study?

Background - Diagnosed with PMR in April 2018. Down to 7mg pred when in April this year developed GCA symptoms. Put on 60mg pred and had a TAB which was negative. Treated as GCA regardless. On 15mg pred reducing 2.5 every 3 weeks until I get down to 10. (All being well) Then a much slower reduction.
