has anybody divided their Prednison into 3 parts?

I started with 20 mg Pred 4 month ago and by going to fast reducing and not being mindful of my new limitations,had to start over. Per your advise have taking it slow with half mg. I have always had a split dose and it has worked well so far. 5mg in the morning, 14 in the late afternoon. Doing great with it, except in the morning while getting up and dressed. Quite painful in shoulders and arms. I wondered if I should (or could ) split my evening dose to 7 mg and take another 7mg before going to bed 3-4 hours late. Would that maybe cover the morning pains better? I urinate twice as much now during the night---am I also eliminating the Pred?

You might be better taking the bigger dose in the morning and the rest later in the evening - what you are doing is a very unusual way of splitting the dose. But splitting the dose 3 ways is not usual and may increase the side effects, at least that is what they'd have us believe!

I don’t split my doses as I have GCA as well but I agree with PMRpro re splitting the dose evenly or even 10mg in the morning and 4mg before bedtime. See how it works for you and adjust accordingly. Best wishes.
