Was thinking to myself after the latest blood results. What if the Diabetes Type 2 being treated is helping my inflammatory situation.
We started the Intermittent Fasting plan several months before my PMR diagnosis.
We started it to address insulin resistance. OH have shown results from the regime, now 3.5 years in....and me zilch.
For years before PMR and the recent diagnosis of Type 2, I have shown symptoms of diabetes, frequent peeing, thirst, hunger even after eating etc etc. My blood results have been very slow to catch up with my symptoms.
I wonder had I been diagnosed and treated earlier whether the PMR would have surfaced.
Having a wander around the net and looking at articles suggests this could be an idea however, right now, I cannot read this particular one as OH is watching a loud telly!
If not ignore. I will have a think about what you have posted. I am suspect of some of these diets. If you had type 2 diabetes pre pmr i don't think treatment woukd have helped. Didnt help me! In fact because its another autoimmune condition the rheumy said it wasnt a surprise that another jumped on board. As i say i will think and explore myself. Not 'myself'...the issue 😂
Thanks. Obviously got my brain in a pickle. I have been told a couple of times by practitioners that auto immune theories are being more accepted, but maybe i misunderstood. I was also told that i would end up on insulin within 8 years, but it took pred and 16yrs. I was told to eat loads of carbs almost 20yrs ago, in fact up to 2 yrs ago that was advice i was given. So anything is possible!
Yes. But no jam on my toast. No butter or fats, fibre okay but pasta and rice with every meal. The carb loading hasnt just permeated diabetes talk. In the early 2000s i was referred to the pain clinic and the book (2001 version) they recommend on living with pain (arthritis, inflammatory conditions), has a food pyramid with 6 to 11 portions of rice, grains, oats, or pasta at the base. I realuse it "old" (seems like yesterday!!!), But surely there was some basic understanding if the effects of carbs on diabetes. I did start using glycemic index and loading by 2005 where possible. I am a carb lover so i dont need telling twice to stuff my face. I was quite ill during that period (ha!) And internet truly didnt seem to have the resources it does now.
What is happening is that there are adult onset cases that are Type 1 - which didn't used to happen. And there ARE slighty different reasons for various patients ...
I have read about Type 1.5 and type 3 as well as the gestational, steroid induced etc. There seemed to be barely a good website years ago as well. Wikipedia only just born. Its gone from little info on anything to info overload in less than 30yrs!
