Does anyone else have pain in the rib area. It seems my pain is moving around. Is this normal? Was really bad in my legs. Now has moved to my rib area. I was down to 5mg but increased to 10mg and now think I need to go higher. Will be calling doctor today. Does the weather have anything to do with it? One day 50 degrees and today 4 degrees. I am getting discouraged. It will be 2 years in April that I have had this. I am 74 years old.

Pain in rib area
Where in your ribs and what sort of pain? Costochondritis isn't unusual and if you have back muscle problems they can cause referred pain in the ribs by irritating the nerves supplying the region (like sciatica but in a different place). If you had leg pain and now it is in the ribs that would sound like a possility.
And yes - the weather can have a big effect on us! I find damp worst but everyone is different.
Hi Joan Elaine
I just went thru a terrible time with pain in the rib area. I thought I had a fracture. Went to emergency and after tests it was determined it was an intercoastal strain, so no fracture.
I am unable to do much, so to have strained something is just crazy. Now I have the same thing in the hip. Going to have it checked out this afternoon. I did up my pred. for the hip and I think it helped a little but didn't clear it out. I went up an extra 4 mg for four days.
Good luck with it all. I know it is all very maddening.

I too found my pain moved around. I am in year three and ribs don't bother me as much now. For me it's base of my neck. Feels like a bruise. If I press on it for awhile it goes away fortunately. Know how you feel. Good luck 🌹
Yes, have quite a bit of rib pain on left side. Tapering pred and the weather tends to set it off. Hope things improve for you as I know how painful it can be.
Usually heating pad helps me. Occasionally, icebag helps too.
I also have pain in my rib cage area. I also have pain in my neck, shoulders & upper arms.I am having physio as I have been diognosed with Rotator Cuff Disease which sometimes results when you are coming off PMR. I have had PMR for 3 and half years. I had ultra scan on my shoulder.
Like Cliff Richard's new song - RISE UP, IT'S NEVER GOING TO GET ME DOWN.
best of luck
Saw the dr. yesterday. had to get more xrays for my hip pain ( I am going to start lighting up I have had so many of them) Anyway, they showed a little arthritis but nothing else. I am grateful there wasn't a fracture but this pain is excruciating and nothing helps. Dr. didn't have any suggestions for the pain. Said wait it out. Of course he didn't respond to upping the pred to see if it helped. Wish I could see a chiropractor, I think that would help.
Oh well one more pain inducing problem on top of all the others.
Can I scream NOW!??
I upped the pred from 10&1/2 to 14mg. for 4 days. Think that is enough or should I go higher.?
Thanks
Yes, I had pain in left rib area pre-diagnosis of PMR. Had every test imaginable and found nothing. Eventually
Went away when on pred, but comes back every once in a while.
Yes I have rib area pain I have had scans and nothing found that would cause it
It went away for a while when I started on press
But it is back now and still taking prednisilone 17.5 mgs
Also my shoulder and neck is painful
I’ve got pain in my breastbone. Couple of years now. Had pmr for 5 years.
