Our weather is even colder up here in Ontario. Wednesday night due to go down to -30c. Can’t wait to escape to warm Miami, but at least this latest polar vortex in the Great White North prompts lots of cuddles under the blankets with hubby to stay warm!!💨🌬❄️

I remember getting a shock when arriving in Montreal one winter from England, and seeing people with ear muffs. I had never experienced such cold temperatures!

Here in the UK, it's a national emergency if the thermometer reads 1below zero. We're a bit woosy where our weather is concerned. 20-40 below zero is mind numbing. No wonder you are hibernating. :-)

Yes....I’ve picked up on that. UK folks (and those in warmer climates) keep posting pictures of their beautiful blooming plants. I’m looking out my back window at snow covered pine trees....a winter wonderland (yuck). Might be different if I still skied.

My oh was offered promotion to Canada we went over to suss it out, Toronto, lovely place great people then an ex pat mentioned he had to dig up his roses before winter. ... I high tailed it back to the UK as if my bum was on fire!

A mere -8C at 11am but with sunshine at least. OH wants to go to the recycling yard - last time it was less cold but snowing! He's crackers...

I am a northerner now living in south of england and I absolutely love the cold and snow. The north do seem to deal with snow better than south and I am always surprised when everything grinds to a halt when an Inch of snow appears when my 76 year old mum has nearly a foot and the milk man is still delivering!!

Last night at least it was somewhat mild so I got the jump on the snowfall and shoveled our whole driveway, cleaned off the vehicles. It took me one just over one hour!! Thought I’d wake up with sore shoulders and neck, but fine today. Now OH is heading out to shovel out the end of our driveway where the snow plow goes by and leaves a 3-4 foot pile of heavy “road snow” across our driveway.

I would be blissfully happy with all that snow. Have just made my grandson a new fleece hat as we are supposed to get some snow this evening and he either loses his hats at school or his mum puts them away and cant remember where she put them!

I always like that pile from the plow...can’t let it freeze up or it’s really a job...blowing and starting to snow...possible -18 next two nights..

I like to look at the snow, but no longer walk in it. Two years ago I was walking in the hills, along the edges in snow. Now, living on top of a steep hill, which isn’t gritted, I’m staying put. Exercise will have to be up and down my two flights of stairs! (Since getting the dreaded PMR and osteoporosis, and refusing bisphosphonates, I can’t risk tumbling!)

Climbing up and down stairs is good exercise. Going up is good for the cardiovascular system and going down is good for the bones!

Yes, you’re right. I am up and down stairs many times a day anyway, but will have to increase the number if my hill remains icy! Since the poly and osteoporosis it is a bit more painful, and occasionally am out of breath. I often wonder if living in a radon area affects health too.

I feel cold here and it is only 1 degree above freezing. Nothing to match your figures!!

Here in Michigan the polar vortex has brought days of school closings due to the cold, ice and snow. This week it looks like I won't even work one day due to the weather. Wow. I wish I was in Florida!
