Just curious. Would scalp tenderness or hurtful spots briefly appearing on scalp be a symptom of gca or a steriod withdrawal symptom? Or both?

Since GCA I’ve had tender scalp for various reasons. Pain from little raised lumps in scalp, withdrawal (especially from biopsy site), before my hair decides to shed, tension in my Steronkleidomastoid muscle, not washing hair enough. It’s a minefield.

I too have tender scalp as I taper the preds after losing an eye to GCA. I was pleased that you mentioned your pain at the biopsy site - so it's not just me. Every day I ask myself - "Is this a flare?" How do you identify a real flare? I have an eye to protect.

And there was me thinking it was an allergy to my shampoo! I don’t have GCA so more likely to be the steroid or it’s withdrawl

I wonder about this too. From time to time I have tenderness, pain actually when touched. It feels as if I have small snakes trying to hatch from my head. Medusa effect!
