Temporal arteritis: Right side , throbbing pain... - PMRGCAuk
Temporal arteritis
It could well be - and really does sound like something that needs a medical opinion asap.
The scalp pain is a typical finding. If you have any visual symptoms of any sort - A&E, don't wait for a GP appointment unless you can walk in immediately. If you could get an emergency eye appointment it might be useful but the signs of GCA will only show if it has been ongoing a while, not just a few hours.
Yes, That sounds like it EXACLY! I was just diagnosed 11 days ago... get to the doctor or A&E as soon as possible. Could result in possible blindness.
Yes, does sound like GCA. I was diagnosed in August when sight began to go in left eye. Had symptoms like yours for 4 weeks before plus sore jaws. You must act right away. 24 hours after I was put on steroids all the symptoms disappeared. Gradually reducing steroids and now symptom free. Good luck.
Is the vein that's enlarged - enlarged all the time or only when the pain symptoms are happening ???
Be very aware, my mum lost her sight through GCA, nobody picked up on it x
