Rotator cuff problems

I appear to have started with PMR after having an operation for a torn tendon in my shoulder. I also had bursitis in both shoulders. I saw that someone else had posted that they too had had rotator cuff problems. I wondered if there is a link between rotator cuff problems and PMR.

In that it is very common for PMR to be mis-diagnosed as rotator cuff problems, yes. The symptoms are often similar and probably the tendons do become delicate if they are inflamed leading to further damage as in your torn tendon. If you have bilateral bursitis it is quite likely to be PMR and that should always be considered.

I had a torn rotator cuff for approx. 10 years. When I came down with Polymyalgia it became unbearably painful. The Drs. had no clue as to why this would occur. I had a cortisone injection guided by xray and it did the trick to alleviate the pain for over 3 yrs. now...knock wood. Best wishes to you.
