Zane1,

See my answer to Lionking's question about Alendronic Acid tablets. Not much more to add, sorry. I'm sure someone will give you much more info on their experiences. DorsetLady

A good place to look is the osteoporosis UK site. I'm on holiday at present so don't have access to my usual sources but I don't think bisphosphonates come as i.v. It should be dependent on your bone density test as to whether he gives you anything. My bone density scan was done after 3 months on pred and then again about 3 years later - it was to all intents and purposes unchanged (you can't compare results from different machines directly). I have never taken anything other than calcium and vit D.

Thanks PMRpro I will check there. I had a bone density test late April & have some osteoporosis which I had prior to PMR. I just have a hard time with medications & side effects so wondered if anyone had any. In the US there is something called Reclast (zoledronic acid) which can be taken my IV once a year. Also pills Fosamax & Actonel. That's all I know about it. Enjoy your holiday!

Go to your FDA site and read up on AA. About a year ago they re-wrote the protocol on AA (Fosomax) well worth reading. If you do need a bio-phosonates, try and avoid AA.
